From Certified Pure to Affordability: What makes Butterfly Express oils so special

“Our focus is on producing great oils and educating people on their use.  We are able to keep costs low by not focusing on marketing with fancy billboards or using multi-level marketing.  People try the essential oils and know they have the real thing.”

Sharon, Butterfly Express LLC

Butterfly Express essential oils are 100% therapeutic grade.  They are high quality essential oils that have been tested, certified, and approved.  Our essential oils are captured from nature using careful steam distillation (as well as cold pressing for citrus oils).  They also produce a few oil absolutes.  Only the highest quality practices are used to ensure all plants and essential oils meet the standard to be claimed as Butterfly Express worthy.

We guarantee Butterfly Express essential oils are 100% certified pure and therapeutic.  Usually, such high quality oils are more costly because of overhead and profit motivations.  Or, on the other side of the spectrum, you have cheap stripped down oils which do little therapeutically, other than smell good.  Our customers attest that the quality of our essential oils is “just as good as”, if not better, than the competition (click here for comparison chart).  We help you take $$$ out of picture so you can focus on your health.

With such great essential oils, how is it Butterfly Express is so reasonably priced?  My friend Kathy blogs about why Butterfly Express essential oils are both certified therapeutic AND affordable:

… If I can get a very high quality oil at an affordable price AND support a company with ethics and values that I agree with, then that’s the company that will get my business.”

She highlights three different areas companies focus on when setting a price point for their product (overhead, payroll, and profit) and how Butterfly Express differs from other mainstream companies:

“First, overhead.  Butterfly Express has a modest, but sufficient, office, warehouse, and factory in Preston, Idaho. They don’t have expensive multi-level office space or international offices that need to be paid for.  That eliminates expenses that drive up the cost of the essential oils.

Second, payroll.  Butterfly Express is not a multi-level manufacturer.  As with all things, the closer you get to the source, the less expensive the product. …They have employees and distributors.  That’s it. …There aren’t six other people between you and the owner who each need to make a profit.

Third, profit, or as I like to call it – intent.  The intent of Butterfly Express is really what makes this company as wonderful as it is.  The intent of the owners is not to become multi-millionaires.  …They sell essential oils because they know they work, and they want others to benefit from them just as they have.  Essential oils have saved their lives – literally – and they want to share that with others.

Wonderfully put, Kathy!  I love working with Butterfly Express.  I love their essential oils; they have saved me and my family many a time as well.  Their intent to bless others is evident in everything they do and produce.  I hope you will have a good experience with Butterfly Express as well.  We are excited to help you do so, even MORE affordably with our 10% off online store.

I would like to become a distributor. Is this the website I contact?

    • I am a distributor for Butterfly Express, LLC. To contact them, call (208) 747-3021 and tell them Wendy Thomander referred you. (They’ll give me a one-time credit of $50.)

To become a distributor, purchase at least $400 of product (at the wholesale price) and sign an agreement form. That’s it! You are then a lifetime distributor. No monthly dues or product purchase requirements, no “upline” and no “downline”. We are all equal and benefit, even our customers because the oils remain affordable and shared with integrity. :)

      • Wendy, This $400 purchase, is it at one time? Or is it when you reached $400 in product you have a choice to become a distributor?
What are the benefits of becoming a distributor?

        Thank you,

  • I have been using doTerra oils. My friend asked me why? Because they were what was introduced to me. Are your oils the same high quality as theirs? Are yours tested thoroughly? I am thinking of changing over but need to know the quality.

    • Very good questions. You can be assured that Butterfly Express Essential Oils are the highest quality oils made with love and care from Butterfly Express LLC in southeastern Idaho. They are certified pure and most of them are made from organic plant material. They are as good as our competitor’s (Young Living and DoTERRA) oils.
Most of Butterfly Express oils are made from high heat distillation. Citrus oils are cold pressed or expeller pressed. We also carry some absolute extracted essential oils, like rose, which would not survive the high heat of distillation. They are still pure as the solvent used to extract the essential oil is removed. To read more, visit this excerpt from the book Butterfly Miracles.

These oils are affordable and not ramped up in price. Butterfly Express is not a multi-level marketing company and therefore keep their costs down. They are more grassroots, natural, and wholesome instead of concerning themselves with big company practices. They do not focus on fancy marketing but on great products and education that really help people; that makes for loyal customers.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

      • I am also considering DoTerra and I am very interested to find out if your product is as high quality as DoTerra. Any company can say they are higher quality than another. But how can it be proved without actually trying both. Both company make claims that they are Certified Pure Theraputic Grade Essential Oils, right? The only difference I have found so far is that DoTerra consultants say you can take their oils internally with no risks, and NOT use carrier oil. Why would that be?

        • Our oils can be taken internally as well. However, I find it hard to say there is no risk when taken orally. The few times any essential oil (all brands) have ever been over-dosed, has been when taken orally. Which is why we don’t “recommend” it be done. One could also claim that you don’t need to use a carrier oil, for example if you soak your toothbrush in a watered down oil, before use, there’s no need for the carrier oil. I have been asked quite a bit lately if our oils are FDA GRAS (generally recognized as safe). And I am happy to reply that after checking with our supplier, they are.

  • You said that ‘most’ are from organic plants. What about the rest? I worry about pesticides if not grown organically. Who does the certification testing? Just employees of Butterfly Express?

  • I have purchased from ‘Be Young’ and have truly benefitted from their high quality products and their directions. But I am looking for another alternative, without having to become a distributor. I just want to be an on-line customer without the “middle man”. I regularly use Tea Tree Oil and other wondetful essential eobbd oils…now I am looking for an anti-fungal blend for help with yeast infections. Can you help?

  • I’ve had great results from many of your oils, thanks!

From a couple comments up…I am interested in the testing process as well…I’ve talked with DoTerra & Be Young both about their process of how they get them tested so I’m equally interested in Butterfly Express as well…who does the testing & how is it done?

Also, I know you commented that you are FDA, GRAS certified, but I wonder if you’d still be able to answer the question about which plants you use that aren’t organic.

Lastly, I noticed when the new website was put up it no longer has an ‘e’ in the “Butterfly” & just wanted to make sure that I’m still connected with a non-tampered with site truly affiliated with Butterfly Express–I’ve had a bad experience before unfortunately…

    • As for the new site with the manufacturers, I’m sure that’s just a type-o that it’s missing the “e”. I will let them know when I call in my next order. They’ve been fixing the bugs as we find them and report them to them. (some are fixed faster then others however). They may or may not even be aware of that issue as of yet. I will also find out if they have any lists as to which are organic and which are not. I’m thinking that all of them are, but I could be wrong with some of those more “foreign” plants to the USA. I’ll update this post once I get a response from them. Thanks. I’m glad you’re enjoying your oils. I Love them too!

  • I would like to see your GRAS List for your oils. thank you

    • Here is a link to Butterfly Expressions pdf. on the topic of testing and standards. All of our oils are GRAS (generally recognized as safe), we wouldn’t sell them if they weren’t. But remember all things must be used in moderation. There are safety guidelines for essential oils. Please take the time to read it.
      Thank you,

  • I dont see the link to the pdf. Can u post it again please? Thank You. Also can u answer the question regarding becoming a distributor? Do we have to purchase the whole $400 at once?

    • Is the link to the manufacturers. You can read from this page all the information they have about essential oils, their therapeutic uses. The comparisons with other companies oils, etc.
As for your 2nd inquiry. Yes, you do need to purchase the entire 400$ worth at once. There is information on their site as to how to do that as well.

  • I just started using your oils to help with sleeping and anxiety. So this is all a learning experience for me but I only wish you guys would send a sheet of directions with the oils on how best to use them and for what!

    • If you go to that link, and scroll down, you can read LaRee Westovers book at your leisure. It has complete instructions for the therapeutic use of each oil, and plenty of other things. You can also purchase her books, either in e-book format, or the softcovers.

  • This is very helpful. I am in the process of researching oils andi am so impressed with theinformation that I have found. I am interested to know what oil you would recommend for rheumatoid arthritis. My Mother has suffered for 30 years and if there is an oil that could help her I would love to know. Thanks!!

    • According to Butterfly Expressions, these are the best oils for therapy of arthritis. You can read more about each oil in the book, as well as the different ways to apply. Since everyone’s body is a little different, finding the right oils and combinations, that work best for your health is important. These are what we recommend.
